Gran Clos 2001 - 93 Points, Wine Advocate/ The 2001 Gran Clos, a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Carignan, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, is a big offering. An inky/purple color accompanies sweet aromas of blueberries, blackberries, crushed stones, and flowers. It possesses a velvety texture, a juicy mid- palate, and a long, concentrated, full-bodied, tannic finish. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and enjoy it over the following 12-15.

Gran Clos 2001 - 92 Points, The International Wine Cellar/ Saturated ruby. Blackberry, cassis and kirsch on the nose, with toasty oak spice and floral oil notes adding complexity. Broad, seductively sweet dark berry preserve flavors stain the palate, with sexy floral pastille and Asian spices building slowly. Tannins gain strength on the finish, but not at the expense of the fruit, which lingers impressively.

Gran Clos 2001 - Sante/ Dark, dense aromas of earth and animal along with notes of plum, cinnamon, and smoke; spicy, gamey palate has notes of blueberry and cassis interwoven with cured meat. Long finish of mineral and earth. Wild boar ravioli.

Gran Clos 2000 - 93 Points, Wine Advocate/ This limited production cuvee from Priorato is a blend of 70% old vine Grenache and 30% Carignan. Lush, fat fleshy is the opaque purple-colored 2000 Gran Clos. Deep, pure, full-bodied and impressive, it reveals notions of melted licorice intermixed with kirsch liqueur and raspberry fruit.
