Food Pairings for Grammy Collection Saperavi Private Reserve
I love dry Saperavi from Georgia, but this is a disappointment. Appearance is a dark, but very cloudy purple/red. Legs took a bit of time to form due to all the particulate matter. Nose is very yeasty and earthy with overtones of mint and allspice. Taste is almost plastic, with dark pit fruits and again a hint of mint and vegetal matter. The yeast is also very present. I'm curious to try a more recent vintage by this producer, to see if the problem is bottle abuse by my local liquor store or is a more fundamental problem.
