Mossy quality on the nose along with sage and cassis. Fruit is somewhat closed off on the nose. On the palate, it's silky, refined and elegant with cherry, sage and light cream flavors. Polished finish. The cassis and cherry linger well and the finish is dry and oaky. 6/2/12

Dark red. Aromas of dark raspberry, pepper, violet and Christmas spices; something almost syrah-like about the nose. Not fleshy but intensely flavored, with subtle sweetness and excellent definition to the flavors of crushed currant and raspberry. Finishes firmly tannic and long. An excellent vintage for this bottling. Lovely balance for aging here.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: A complex nose shoots up aromas of dark berries, cassis, smoke, earth and toast. The fruit is generous and open; it tastes more like red berries than black. The acidity perfectly balances the fruit, and stretches out the flavors into a smooth, nicely detailed finish. (Sep 2011)
