Graham Beck Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The grapes for this 100% Sauvignon Blanc were sourced from our vineyards in Stellenbosch on the cool False Bay rim and from Darling. Reductive treatment ensured optimum varietal flavours. A classic Sauvignon Blanc with green grassy aromas on the nose and concentrated tropical fruit flavour with hints of green pepper. The crisp lively acidity sparkles on the palate. Enjoy as an aperitif or with sushi and Sashimi or grilled smoked and spicy fish dishes.

Our vineyards are located on four diverse farms in the Western Cape province of South Africa, enabling the Robertson and Franschhoek Cellars to have access to grape varietals grown in the climatic conditions and soils to which they are best suited. Marco Ventrella, our viticulturist, oversees the 4 farms. However, each farm is individually tended for by the respective Vineyard Manager; Franschhoek (97ha) and Stellenbosch (Skoongesig 36ha and Vredenhof 64ha) falls under Derek Hamraan and Pieter Fouche looks after Madeba in Robertson (i89ha). The two farms in the Firgrove area in Stellenbosch's Helderberg district, provide most of the premium red varietals to the Graham Beck range. The Stellenbosch region is universally recognised as South Africa's premier wine region due to its excellent terroir suited to the growing of a variety of premium red cultivars. An extensive renewal programme has resulted in premier red and white varietals on all our farms. Great care has been taken to match the obliging micro-chrnates and rich variety of soils with the most suitable varietal. This ensures our winemakers have access to optimum quality fruit from which to make their specific wines. Read less

An expression of tropical fruit on the nose - litchis and granadillas, with notes of green pepper and capsicum. Great concentration of tropical fruit and grassiness and peppers on the palate. A crisp, lively acidity and persistent but elegant finish.
