What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Winemakers Notes

Ripe cherry purple. Nose bursting with ripe red berry fruit backed by dry herbs, cinnamon, roasted nuts and white pepper. Big but concentrated mouth with super complexity of fruit flavours, spice and well managed oak. Beautifully balanced with finest tannins giving just the bit of grip needed at the end of a long finish. Good now, great in another four to five years.

Reviews

deep ruby with garnet rim; a lot of secondary characteristics on the nose - spicy, leathery, nutty, stewed red fruit; medium bodied and just barely hanging on to "well balanced" with diminishing fruit character -- i wouldn't hold on to this much longer, but it's nice right now!

Lots of sediment. Dark purple that goes to clear just at the rim. Lots of secondary aged wine on the nose with some red fruit and smoky leather filling in the gaps. Very gentle, warm, and balanced on palate, but with a moderately long, slightly chalky, tannic finish. Drink this puppy now.
