Food Pairings for Graham Beck Sauvignon Blanc
For those who like grassy, mineral notes, this wine is pure Heaven on Earth(y)! Sauvignon blanc is my preferred wine, and I drink lots of it. Pheasant's Run, since my first taste in '09, has been my preferred sauv blanc. I drank (and continue to drink when I can get my hands on it) lots of it, waxed eloquent on it in my book Back to the Wild Life, and pretty much proposed to it at first blush. Too bad limited production will never bring it to US shores. Guess I'll have to remain a geographic bachelorette.

An expression of tropical fruit on the nose - litchis and passionfruit, with notes of ripe figs and capsicum. Great concentration of tropical fruit and grassiness and peppers on the palate. A crisp, lively acidity and persistent but elegant finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or with grilled, smoked and spicy fish and chicken dishes.Acohol: 13.3 % volResidual Sugar: 1.90 g/lpH: 3.35Total Acid: 6.80g/l
Graham Beck is a giant of the South African wine scene and has led the country's thundering success since the end of Apartheid in 1994, a year that saw Nelson Mandela toast his inauguration as President with a flute of Beck's Brut NV. Fizz remains a key part of the Beck portfolio and the sparkling wines are rightly recognised as among the best in the New World. Based in Robertson, a second cellar in Franschhoek has been built to further extend the company's potential. Pieter 'Bubbles' Ferreira retains overall control of the winemaking with the talented Erika Obermeyer and Irene Waller heading up the Franschhoek and Robertson wineries respectively. The grapes for this 100% Sauvignon Blanc were sourced from their vineyards in Stellenbosch on the cool False Bay rim and from Darling. A classic Sauvignon Blanc with green grassy aromas on the nose and concentrated tropical fruit flavour, with hints of green pepper. The crisp, lively acidity sparkles on the palate. Enjoy as an aperitif or with sushi and Sashimi, or grilled, smoked and spicy fish dishes.
