94 Points, Wine Enthusiast Cellar Selection: "This is a dry style of wine, with great acidity and a tightly wrought texture. As with many Gosset Champagnes, this wine has had no malolactic fermentation, enhancing the freshness and crispness as well as the structure. Full of lemon zest, crisp grapefruit and delicious acidity, it will still age for many years." 12/15 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2006 Brut Grand Millésime offers more near term appeal than many Gosset Champagnes as the flavors show a good amount of complexity, while the contours are nicely mellowed. Hazelnut, savory herbs, anise, mint and dried pear meld into the generous, inviting finish. The typical Gosset energy is nicely balanced by the weight and soft, relaxed contours of a wine that is now nearly ten years old. Lightly honeyed and toasty notes round out the close. In 2006 the blend is 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay from vineyards in Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Trépail, Vertus, Ambonnay, Avenay, A", Chigny-les-Roses and Louvois." 11/15 93 Points, Wine Spectator: "The soft and creamy mousse of this elegant Champagne imparts a sense of finesse to the bright acidity, driving the flavors of baked plum, clover honey, preserved lemon and coffee cake. For four century, great care has benn taken to maintain the reputation of the brand, and to preserve a family know-how in making champagne. In 1584 Pierre Gosset, alderman of Ay and wine-grower, made still, mostly red, wines from the grapes he harvested from his own vines. In those days, two wines vied for pride of place at the table of the Kings of France: The wine of Ay and , from some hundreds of leagues further South, the wine of Beaune. Both were made from the same grape varietals Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The reputation of the wine of Ay was such that Francois the First had his own winery built there, which is now owned by Champagne Gosset. Then, in the 18th century the wine made in and around Ay began to bubble, and the Gosset family turned naturally to the production of champagne. At Gosset, most of the cuvees are presented in the old style bottle, a replica of the one used in the 18th and 19th centuries.
