Persistent and well-balanced with ripe red berries, fruit jam and spices, and a lovely, long finish. BRONZE MEDAL - Decanter World Wine Awards 2010 Some 50% of Pellegrino’s sales are for still wines and the company is considered to be one of the most innovative in the south of Italy. In order to give a greater emphasis and definition to the area of activity the wines are sold under the DUCA DI CASTELMONTE label. In the 1970’s the company was the first to market a range of wines produced from native grape varietals and has continued to seek the individualism and character of the true wines of Sicily. This strategy is now paying dividends, as people tire of the classic varietals, they are coming to respect traditional wines from Sicily. What customers are also finding, to their benefit, is that Sicilian wines offer fantastic value for money. The winery benefits from ISO 9002 and is BRC accredited. Grapes : 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Nero d’Avola Region : Italy / Sicily / Marsala IGT Maker : Gaspare Catalano Notes : Persistent and well-balanced with a long and elegant finish and a bouquet recalling ripe red berries, fruit jam and spices. Serve : Serve at room temperature with mature cheese, carpaccio and grilled red meats. ABV : 14% Suitable for Vegetarians

Winemaker's Notes:

The Duca di Castelmonte label is given to the still wines of the Carlo Pellegrino, the world-famous Sicilian Marsala producer. In the 1970’s the company was the first to market a range of wines produced from native grape varietals and they have continued to seek the individualism and character of the true wines of Sicily. This strategy is now paying dividends, as customers look to discover more of the indigenous varietals of Italy. What those customers are also finding is that Sicilian wines offer fantastic value for money.
