The Goretti Gisberto agricultural company and the Goretti winery began in the 1960s.In 1992 the agricultural company divided and became Goretti Gisberto farming and Goretti wine Production: the first being responsible for the production of the grapes and the second involved in the wine-making process. Subsequently, the family invested in Montefalco with the creation of a new and modern winery, the “Fattoria le Mura Saracene“, and launched their production of two significant red wines: the Montefalco Sagrantino D.O.C.G. and the Rosso of Montefalco D.O.C. The Goretti winery has been handed down from father to son, a tradition that fully reflects the Umbrian practice of conducting and maintaining family businesses. Surrounded by the sweet rolling hills of Umbria, just outside of Perugia, the Goretti Estate Winery extends its property around a 14th century tower, which today houses the winery hospitality centre. The vineyards, situated in the Colli Perugini wine district, extend over a hilly, plentiful and sunny territory. With an average altitude of 330 meters above sea level, this position is ideal for superior wine growing. The third and fourth generations of our family have an active collaboration with the shared aim of producing and selling wines of the highest quality. The passion of the Goretti winery has been fundamental in a family history of wine making spanning generations, and it exists today as the family continues their participation in the Italian world of viticulture, with pride, passion and exceptional consistent quality. Tradition and experimentation go hand in hand to prove that quality wines are never the result of improvisation, but of a profound knowledge of the land, the climate and production processes. The Goretti winery was created and has developed with an orientation towards modern and practical methods of cultivation and wine making, together with the precious and knowledgeable practices of their ancestors. Goretti white wines are quite balanced, with fruity, smooth, rich and well-defined typical flavors. We have always been striving to expand the native vines, like the Grechetto varietal. In doing so we may derive benefit from all the characteristics of our territory, which is unique because of its soil and microclimate. For example, our excellent Torre Del Pino, 50% Trebbiano Toscano, 30% Grechetto and 20% Chardonnay. A light straw-yellow with faint greenish reflections; a deep and elegant bouquet with notes of pineapple, banana, yellow peach and pear; a light aroma of fresh white flowers. The red wines begin with a strict sorting of the grapes, the knowledgeable and never overpowering use of oak during the aging procedure and refinement in the bottle, which praises all the organoleptic features of each wine. One of the best examples of our red wine is D.O.C. Colli Perugini Rosso L'Arringatore, 60% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot and 10% Ciliegiolo. Intense and dark ruby red with violet hues, a full, complex and very intense bouquet; full-bodied, with a good structure and well-integrated with soft tannins. Aromatic and elegant, with ripe red cherry-fruit, and a spicy touch of leather, tobacco and licorice. Read less
