Goose Ridge Syrah Goose Ridge Syrah 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Very good vintage with many age worthy characteristics of rich blackberry, cassis and jammy notes to the wine. A slight bit of spice and vanilla can be picked up from the barrel aging process. Outstanding depth and complexity on the palate. This 2005 syrah offers better than average ageability given the natural high acidity of wines from this vintage.

Acclaimed winemaker Charlie Hoppes has his pick of the vineyard. Fermenting and aging wines in small lots from a handful of blocks carefully selected for their exceptional character and complexity is exactly what the Monsons had in mind for Goose Ridge when they founded the winery in 1999. The family has farmed in the Columbia Valley for four decades and is known for their commitment to quality. Goose Ridge Vineyard is built on that tradition. Read less

Very rich and concentrated fruit and has great aging potential. It was still evolving on the third day. If you like columbia crest reserve wines then you will like this as Goose Ridge furnishes about 80% of their grapes. I would rate it better than the 2006 Columbia Crest Reserve Syrah but its close.
