At Good Earth Winery, our vision is the bring to market the best wines that India can produce; wines that bring recognition to India as an international wine region. Using innovative technologies, selective local grapes and an obsessive attention to technique, we bring you our best. Good Earth Winery was founded in 2007 with a vision to create wines that would bring recognition to India as an international wine region. Produced in the Nashik Valley, Good Earth Winery specifies viticulture and production processes under the supervision of Dr. Rajesh Rasal, who has over a dozen years of wine making experience and is the first person awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Oenology from an Indian University. Sold in Mumbai and other Indian cities for almost a year, the wine brand is now launching in the US market. Our first vintage has two collections: - 2008 Concerto Collection: Reserve reds ages in oak barrels for one year, Basso, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and Brio, 100% Shiraz. - 2008 Raga Collection: Aarohi, 100% Sauvignon Blanc Where our wines come from: The Nashik Valley, located approximately 175km northeast of Mumbai, is a region with many lakes and dams. In combination with an altitude of almost 2,000 feet, a cool microclimate is created. The valley has been growing grapes, flowers and fruits for over 100 years. The soil is well drained and red with small gravel. Good Earth Winery selects mature vineyards and specifies viticulture practices, including organic manure and fertilizers, low-yield grape production and manual grape harvesting and selection. Temperature control is ensured from harvest through shipping to ensure the best quality product. Pairing Notes: Our wines are created in an international style and suit traditional wine and food pairings. However, when pairing with Indian cuisine, we encourage people to think more about pairing our wines with the curry than with the content of the dish. See our website for more pairing details. Its very nice on the nose - a faint touch of grassy and aromas of guava. palate offers little too high on the acidity and finishes with a slightly tart taste. It's not anywhere close to the traditional sauvignon blanc that I have tasted in the past, but it is different !

Tasting Notes:

Nashik's best Sauvignon Blanc grapes morph into a medley of tropical fruits and herbs. Medium bodied, light yellow color. Aarohi immediately makes its presence felt on the nose and on the palate. Grassy, herbacious, but also full of guava and banana.
