Goldwater Estate Sauvignon Blanc Wairau Valley 2008
The Goldwater Sauvignon Blanc is selected from ultra premium vineyards in the Wairau valley. These vineyards are carefully chosen to reflect the vibrancy and clean fruit flavours that the best of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc can offer. The site selections combined with careful canopy manipulation such as leaf plucking and shoot thinning, produce very consistent ripeness. The wine accentuates the elegant, pure Goldwater style. The wine is intensely aromatic with fragrant aromas of honeyed lychee and passionfruit, plus subtle crushed nettles tones and fresh minerality. The palate shows rich ripe aromas which combine with herbal and citrus nuances to give a well balanced wine with a refreshing, long and clean finish.
The Goldwater philosophy is simple - great wine is born in the vineyard. Careful site selection, sustainable viticultural practices and meticulous vineyard management, including innovative trellising and low yields, ensure the production of exceptionally high quality grapes. The Estate-owned Waiheke Island vineyards extend over 35 acres of free-draining clay based hillside soils and are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Chardonnay.
