User Reviews for Goldschmidt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
Add your reviewAt this price point I expected something much tastier. Decanted for over 2 hours and the finish is still extremely bitter. The front and mid-palate are terrific and complex. I paired this with Korean marinated skirt steak. The steak was too chewy but the wine really helped me look past that. Definitely more of a food wine than a pop'n'pour. This wine may be a little too young to open.

Chosen as the top 10 Wine of Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine with a score of 95 points, this extremely rare and exciting Cabernet is produced by the man who headed up wine making at Simi vineyards for more than a decade. Nick Goldschmidt produces millions of cases of fine wine at Clos du Bois, Beauna Vista, William Hill, Atlas Peak and many more renowned California wineries but Goldschmidt Vineyard is all his own. This is where he creates extraordinary small lot wines from the vineyards and terroir that he knows so well. The Vyborny vineyard where the 100% Cabernet grapes for this wine are sourced is a 5 acre plot with old vines and southeast exposure. The grapes are fermented slowly over four weeks and the wine is aged in 100% new oak for 20 months. Critic Steve Heimoff noted “brilliant red stone fruit, cassis, cola, date nut bread, mocha and tangerine zest flavors gorgeously lavished with the vanilla and smoky caramel of oak.” Less than 600 cases were produced. Extremely limited!! </> This item excluded from any other discounts or offers beyond the 15% case discount.
Wine Enthusiast ReviewRated 95 EDITORS CHOICECabernet collectors who look beyond Napa Valley should be aware of this wine. Its an important addition to the Alexander Valley pantheon, a densely layered young wine. Shows brilliant red stone fruit, cassis, cola, date nut bread, mocha and tangerine zest flavors gorgeously lavished with the vanilla and smoky caramel of oak. Just delicious now, and should slowly spread its wings for many years.Wine Tasting NotesOur goal is to highlight the special characters of this noble varietal while showcasing the distinct benefits and attributes associated with this magnificent vineyard site. The Goldschmidt Vineyard Vyborny Cabernet is a full bodied wine with supple tannins, luxurious texture, and a lengthy finish. Goldschmidt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is hand crafted, utilizing the best possible resources available. The wine is exceptional; with the richness and balance that are the hallmarks of world class wines.
