Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

The 2004 Golan Cabernet Sauvignon highlights bright berry and cherry notes with hints of herb and spice, all rounded out with aromatic vanilla and oak. The wine's medium body and classic Cabernet character make it a great everyday drinking Cab.
The 2004 is ready to enjoy but will remain in good shape for up to five years. We drink this wine along with grilled sausages, a good pizza or even homemade chili con carne.

Colder-than-average temperatures and heavy rainfall typified the winter preceding the 2004 vintage. March and April brought unusually warm and dry weather read more...causing early budbreak in our warmer vineyards. Relatively cool temperatures returned in May putting the season back on track for a hectic, relatively short harvest. Average yields and very promising across-the-board quality characterized the vintage.
The 2004 Golan Cabernet is made entirely from fruit grown in the Golan Heights. The wine ages for six months in small American oak barrels.

The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter.
