Vintage: 2006 04/25/2010

This wine from the Golan Heights (occupied zone) in Israel is made according to kosher food preparation laws. It has a deep, open blackberry-like scent reminiscent of wines from Napa-Sonoma made from the same varietal. In the mouth, the main impression is one of Creme de la Framboise with light, toasty vanilla tannins. There is structure to age further, but the wine is drinking well now. Slightly less body than a comparable California Cab, but otherwise very sturdy indeed and good value. Tasted at the 2010 Vancouver International Wine Festival.

Intense ripe blackberry, cherry, cassis and plum notes with toasty oak, vanilla and a nuance of spice and tar; full-bodied and concentrated with a long complex finish. Goes well with full-flavored foods, such as peppered grilled steak, roast goose or roasted rack of lamb.
