Goats Do Roam Goat Roti South Africa 2007
I don't usually go for wines with funny names, but this one, which is a play on Cote Rotie, is quite good for the price ($16), especially when compared with the $50+ prices of the actual Cote Rotie. Nice balance of funky Syrah aromas and juiciness.

Winemaker's Notes - When blending Shiraz and Viognier it is essential to co-ferment the grapes, as opposed to blending the finished wine which generally tends to have a diluting effect. Co-fermented grapes have a positive impact, as the use of Viognier improves colour, softens and elaborates the tannin and gives a slight fragrant lift to the wine. Colour: Deep vibrant purple. Aroma: Subtle floral and aromatic notes yield to ripe fruit and peppery aromas. Palate: Juicy layered ripe fruit and silky tannins. Cellaring: This wine is good now however it will benefit from at least 5 years in bottle
