External Reviews for Gloria Ferrer Rosé Blend Sonoma County Brut Rosé
Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the November 2010 issue. The latest edition of Gloria Ferrer's Blanc de Noir is a wonderful example of just what can happen when California fruit meets the methode champenoise. Bright and buoyant with overtones of strawberries and cherries yet never in the least bit candied or overly cute, the wine is very well-balanced, lightly yeasty and charged with lots of pinpointy bubbles. It is at fresh and friendly and can be quaffed on its own, but it has structure and substance to pair well with poached salmon in richer cream sauces.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
• 100% hand-harvested Carneros grapes • Whole-cluster pressed for delicacy • Fermented in stainless steel tanks at temperatures of 55° to 60°F to retain vibrancy and freshness • 25% of the Pinot Noir grapes in the blend were cold macerated for 36 to 48 hours to develop color and bright aromas without bitter compounds • The cuvée is a blend of ten different base wines • The wine aged for over two years on the yeast to develop complexity
Sparkling wine aficionados around the world admire well-crafted rosé for its beautiful color, fruit character and great versatility in pairing with food. The aromas and flavors of this wine are strongly influenced by a preponderance of Pinot Noir in the blend, while a small amount of Chardonnay contributes structure and an extended finish. This luminous pale salmon rosé offers a mouthwatering nose full of enticing strawberry, lemon, pear and vanilla aromas, delightful bread dough nuances and a trace of rose petals. A creamy entry onto the palate leads to tangy raspberry, apple and citrus flavors, and bright acidity sustains the refreshing finish.
