Winemaker's Notes:

• This is out 8th Carneros Merlot release • 100% Carneros Merlot • 72% Estate Vineyards, 19% Robledo Vineyards, 9% JPG Vineyards • Vines were well-balanced, with moderate pruning weights and yields • Grapes were de-stemmed, lightly crushed and fermented at 85F. A three-day cold soak softened and broadened the tannins, promoted color extraction and enhanced aromatics • Gentle pump-overs three times daily extracted maximum color, flavors and tannins • The wine was racked and returned to barrel every three months • Aged for 12 months in small French (87%) and American (13%) oak barrels, one-third new. Coopers included Billon, Francois Frères, Vicard and Kelvin • Bottled unfined

Tasting Notes:

The 2006 Merlot offers abundant aromas of ripe plum and black cherry with background hints of mocha and cedar. On the palate, the wine is lush, supple, and elegantly structured, with rich, bright cherry and wild berry flavors persisting amid well-integrated tannins. Immediately approachable, this Merlot will benefit from cellaring for five to ten years.
