Glen Ellen Petite Sirah Paso Robles Imagery Series 1988

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This is hard and herbal on the nose with a slightly candied tone to the earthy core of fruit. This smells hard, like granite hard, and maybe a bit mineral. In the mouth this shows some modest black cherry fruit backed up with spicy, pencilly oak and green herbal top notes. The texture of this wine is seductively smooth but the wood maintains too prominent a presence. All in all it’s not very Petite Sirah, make me guess and I’ll say Petite Verdot, but it was fun watching people try to guess what the heck this was. 11.5% alcohol by the way! 84pts
