Glen Ellen Chardonnay California 2009

Member Review by Rose Thérèse Gradoux-Matt:

I must admit I was surprised at the other review. This wine is absolutely nothing special, but is completely drinkable and quite pleasant. Fruity pear notes, medium body, and no "cheap" aftertaste. I was very pleased with it and served it with a seafood lunch.

Glen Ellen:
Glen Ellen is a wine produced by Concannon Wines, named for the wine-centric town in the Sonoma Valley. These are classic examples of California mainstays, and are available in large and small format bottles.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

As a connoisseur of cheap wines, I would have to say that this is the worst wine I've ever tried. One sip of this wine will make you choke. Two sips will make you gag. A poor student in need of some wine would be better served going to Trader Joe's and investing in some three buck chuck.

With its cool climate flavors, seemingly lower alcohol and very good balance, this wine has more fine wine elements than any other chardonnay we tasted in this price category. Toasty aromas and baked apple flavors are very attractive; round in the mouth, the oak and fruit are well-integrated, and the finish is a little short. In all, an outstanding value.

Rich, creamy flavors of pear and butterscotch with a clean finish.

A pleasant, monolithic, but authentic tasting Chardonnay, Glen Ellenrsquo;s 1997 Proprietorrsquo;s Reserve exhibits light to medium body, buttery tropical fruit, and an off-dry finish. Drink it over the next year.

Light and inoffensive, with pleasant pear and honey flavors.

Simple and easy-drinking, with earthy citrus and apple flavors. Drink now.

A light, fruity wine, with gentle melon, peach and vanilla aromas and flavors and a touch of spice on the finish. Ultimately tastes simpler than it sounds, but appealing. Drinkable now.
