Glen Carlou Chardonnay 2008
Glen Carlou’s worldwide reputation for quality wines has been built on the mission of delivering handcrafted wines reflecting our distinctive terroir. Over the past decades, our wines have harvested a rich bounty of accolades and today six sought-after wines are available in a classic range. 2008 was a warmer vintage than usual, giving a fuller style to the Chardonnay. This style will show very good longevity in the bottle. It is fresh lime green in colour, with hints of yellow. There are aromas of green fruit with nutty butterscotch notes, ripe apples and hints of toffee and spice. The flavours are refreshing, with a great balance of fruit and acidity. Full bodied with juicy apple flavours, and well integrated oak for a mouth-watering finish. Complements grilled or smoked fish, poultry or pasta. Great with chicken cacciatore.

Aromas of pear and toasty, nutty oak. Supple and sweet in the mouth, with nectarine, peach and nutty oak flavors showing good underlying verve. Finishes with enticing sweetness and decent persistence.
Round, with ripe apple and pear notes followed by a buttery finish. For fans of the style. Drink now.
This pulls no punches, with lots of grilled hazelnut, matchstick and piecrust aroma followed by ripe pear, fig and melon flavors. Long, smoky finish delivers another wave of fruit. Drink now through 2005.
Winemaker David Finlayson produces this Chardonnay mainly from estate grapes, augmented with grapes purchased from an additional vineyard that Glen Carlou manages. It is fermented with a combination of commercial and natural yeasts and undergoes partial malolactic fermentation in barrel. The maturation consists of about 10 months of aging in a combination of new and used oak barrels, most of them French.
A ripe, forward, crowd-pleasing style, showing a buttery edge to the pear and fig flavors, with a toasty, solid, medium-weight finish.
Glen Carlou has produced an exceptional handcrafted Chardonnay with amazing qualities from start to finish! The wine has tropical fruit aromas and a beautiful golden color. It has been fermented in French oak and matured for ten months sur lie, which gives the wine rich fruit flavors along with buttery oakiness. It is beautifully balanced, with a creamy texture and crisp acidity. This wine would be delicious to serve with red snapper with beurre blanc sauce.
