A superb nose of herb, truffle, roast plum and sandstone expands over the eveing to reveal nuances of smoke, rich fruit, light tobacco, light fig notes, classic tar and dried floral notes. very perfumed, layered and intense. This opens large scaled in the mouth still tight and unevolved with a very clipped finish. Over the course of the evening this just gained depth, length, and sweetness. Tarry with dark spice licorice tinged fruit that begins with notes of roasted berries but ends with a clear purity of raspberry liquor. Full of soft tannins with a finish that continued to lengthen and highlighted the underlay of black mineral and licorice. just entering it's peak window this is excellent with room for improvement.

The fruit here is just so clear and crisp with great depth yet the freshness of perfectly ripe and balanced fruit, breathtaking. This too has impressive sweetness on entry followed by long, layered fruit with a cascade of herbal, mineral and fruit tones keeping everything fresh and presice, The tannins are ripe and polished yielding an unobtrusive presence that offers mouthfilling lift to the fruit. Really almost seamless with great finess for such an intense wine and superb length of seared cherry fruit. All around great bottle of wine that is just entering its peak drinking window. I would have no problem drinking a bottle a year for the next 24 years... if only I had 2 cases! 96pts

This is gentle and feminine smelling with very subtle spicy earth tones. In the mouth this is quite velvety with a seamless quality to the slightly astringent red plum fruit. There is nice drive on the palate with a big licorice drive tone that completes the palate and adds length. This seemed to be very youthful though I can’t discount the possibility that this suffered a bit of abuse along the way since the incredibly long cork was quite fully saturated though I did pick this up from a reputable shop in Germany. 2009-2024 92pts

The nose shows cranberry sauce, wild berries and a bit of vanilla. Strawberry and tobacco on the palate but a bit drying. This bottle does show a good finish with brisk acidity which leads me to believe it simply needs more time to become more expressive on the palate.
