Girard Winery Sauvignon Blanc St. Helena 2009
A very clean, fresh and crisp Sauvignon Blanc; Lush aromas of citrus zest, pineapple and guava on the nose, while the palate exhibits fresh-cut grapefruit and Meyer lemon. A wonderful apéritif wine that pairs well with lighter white fish, green salads and goat cheese....Winemakers Notes
Citrus and melon aromas and flavors. Light and refreshing, fleshy on the finish.
Pear taste with less acidity than most sauvignons; neutral feeling about it overall
classic sauvignon blanc aromas on the nose - pear, grapefruit, and melon. crisp, less acidic than most. medium bodied. very easy on the palate.
I really like the 2009 Girard Sauv Blanc. It is not my fave sauv blanc, but an excellent drinker, and will pair with a wide variety of foods. The expected grapefruit is there, but subdued. Subdued is how I would call this SB. There is a hint of pear, and some mineral. It is not your typical grapefruit/over the top SB. But there is a complexity here, that develops in layers as you taste. A bit lighter than other sauv blancs. recommend.. good food pairing.
