What to Expect
The classic Bordeaux blends rely on either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for the bulk of the wine with additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec helping to add complexity, color, body and structure to the finished wine.

Another powerfully expressive Petite Sirah from Girard Winery. You'll need to take the hinges off your door to get this big wine into your house. Full-bodied with bursting flavors of dark cherry, blueberry and plum. A rustic, earthy quality on the nose, with spicy notes of nutmeg, allspice and cocoa. Serve this rich wine with lamb, stews, cassoulet and other hearty dishes. All of the fruit we use to make this wine comes from the small clone Petite Sirah, which we believe delivers richer concentration and brighter flavors. Brings a boutique touch to this often rustic variety, with a classic structure, although no Petite Sirah can ever quite escape its brawny bulk. Nor should it want to. Blackberries, black currants, loganberries, plums, cherries, dark unsweetened chocolate, leather, coffee, violets - they all come together in this dry, fresh young wine. Will easily hold for a decade or two, gradually getting softer and sweeter. - Wine Enthusiast
This wine is a perfect example of why we are seeing a resurgence of interest in this historic grape variety. Grown on old world head pruned vines in the Napa Valley, the fruit in this wine is brimming with blueberry and raspberry character with a touch of pepper. On the palate the wine is surprisingly soft while retaining the mouth filling tannins and body for which our Petite Sirah is justly renowned.
