What to Expect

Barbaresco is a wine that shares much with its close neighbor Barolo. Both are made with the Nebbiolo grape and from nearly contiguous plots of vines in Piedmont. The slightly warmer climate of Barbaresco, and resulting earlier harvest, makes these wines a touch lighter and less complex than Barolo, if more elegant and earlier maturing. They share much the same flavor profile with their siblings though tend to be less intense.

Editorial Reviews

An immediate, intense nose of deep, dark fruit with a muscular disposition that reveals green floral, balsam and spice notes above the coiled fruit. Big and dense in the mouth this will need a bit of time to show well though it is layered and long with exceptional intensity and great acidity that is couched in the chewy fruit. This has the feel of very ripe, perfectly ripe fruit. 2011-2018 92pts

Reviews

This is a balanced and expressive Barbera from a legendary traditionalist. It is unmatched in its sophistication, yet it positively explodes with dark fruit, licorice and spice.

Superb. A wine that confirms my desire to want to move to Piemonte. Luscious. Harmonious. Elegant. Rich. Bejeweled. Quite a stunner. Dark forest floor fruit on the nose seduce you into the wine. Aromatic midpalate broadens the weight in the mouth without making the wine feel heavy. And the finish is soft and complete. Truly spectacular showing. Not sure I could age this wine; too good to drink right now.
