This is a beautiful, balanced and elegant wine fit for royalty, but affordable to the rest of us. From uncorking through four hours, there is nothing in nose or palate that offends. Instead, a series of pleasure-giving harmonies visit in succession. The nose opens to bright tones of vanilla and honeydew melon, intermingling with notes of cherry and fragrant wild flowers. The palate launches with wild cherry, plum and an array of tart fruit flavors, followed by cloves and other spices on the finish. After an hour, a creamy honey taste spreads over the tongue and establishes a new milieu for the complex medley of flavors still evolving. Buttery oak and crème brûlée make their appearances, along with notes of burnt brown sugar and earth. The finish is elegant, lengthy and structured, supported and sustained by velvety tannins and a pleasant, zingy acidity that crowns this well-orchestrated journey with a titillating tang.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits notes of roasted herbs, black currants, loamy soil and underbrush, a generous mouthfeel and the vintageandrsquo;s tell-tale flamboyance and exuberance. Already drinkable, it should continue to evolve for 10andndash;12 years.

Better balanced is the impressive 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by plenty of crème de cassis, charcoal, roasted herb, and licorice notes. Medium to full-bodied and ripe with elegance, substance, and well-integrated tannins, it should drink well for 15-20 years.

A beautiful Cabernet. Dark, dry and elegantly structured, it has classic Napa tannins and is nicely trimmed in acidity. The flavors are complex and delicious, suggesting ripe blackberries, black currants and cedar. Drink now-2015.

A big, rich, expressive style that's intense and concentrated, with ripe, firm, vibrant black cherry, blackberry, currant, anise and spicy, toasty oak, which adds a nice flavor dimension. Best from 2009 through 2014.

Winemaker's Notes:

Distinctive flavors of Ghost Block and Rock Cairn were heightened with the 2007 growing season. Deep and concentrated with balance and structure. Bright aromas of roses, tobacco and spice lead to a full palate of blackberries, cherries and cocoa. The mid palate is full and leads to a bright long finish of cherries, caramel, spice, cassis and coffee.
