Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Nestled on a gently sloping knoll on the north edge of Yountville, Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of the historic Pioneer Cemetery for which it borders. According to local lore George C. Yount; who was the first person to plant a grapevine in the Valley, wanders the hillside overseeing the vast spectrum of an industry he himself founded on this very land. Ghost Block is our premier Cabernet Sauvignon expressing the very best from our estate vineyards. Production is limited, always based on our very best fruit. The 2010 exhibits the typical distinctive flavors of Ghost Block and the Rock Cairn vineyard. Finesse oriented with an elegant balance and structure. Bright floral aromatics, such as rose petals and tobacco. A full-bodied cabernet that attacks with loads of dark berry fruits, cocoa and nutmeg. The palate is supported by the lasting finish of black cherries and coffee." -Winery

Bonded Winery #9 has 635 planted vineyard acres and the property is the ninth largest planted acreage in Napa County. The Company is committed to growing grapes without the use of chemicals. Certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers, Bonded Winery #9 uses organic vineyard management techniques. Selective leaf and shoot removal reduces fungus and mildew pressure. Cover crops like oats, peas, mustard and vetch, are planted between rows to naturally inhibit soil erosion, reduce dust, restore nutrients and encourage microbiological activity. Even grape skins and stems are composted after harvest and added back to the soil, replenishing nitrogen and potassium and increasing microbiological activity. The 635 vineyard acres are divided between Oakville (35%) and Yountville (65%), two distinguished appellations within Napa Valley. Within the vineyards are several distinctive blocks, each having a specific name. These vineyard names began making their debuts on prestigious wine labels in the late 1990’s. Read less

Nice red currant with hints of black currant and possessing great structure to lay it down a while. Great oak and vanilla notes over red berry with hints of black fruit. Dry. Really good balance and nice flavor. 92 pts. 5/10/13 at NWC room

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is a plump radiant wine graced with exquisite red fruit flowers spices and minerals. It reveals gorgeous fleshiness all the way through to the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. -Antonio Galloni Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
