Ghiaie Della Furba Capezzana 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Dichtes, kompaktes Rot, schwarzer Kern, in der Nase moderne Stilistik, warme, süße Holztöne unterlegt mit viel süßer Frucht, feine Würze. Am Gaumen kompakt, viel Extrakt, toller Abgang.

Capezzana:
Tenuta di Capezzana in Tuscany’s Carmignano was renowned for its vineyards in 804 A.D. Today the Count Bonacossi family melds past & present, making wines traditional to the region with modern techniques – using vines grafted from Château Lafite, and blending Cabernet & Sangiovese to create what became known as a Super Tuscan.

Wine Advocate ReviewCapezzana has begun to give its top wines, including this Bordeaux blend, more bottle time before release, a policy which has certainly paid off in the excellent 2001 Ghiaia delle Furbe, very Medocain in its black currant, cedar, and graphite nose, its poised and balanced flavors of blackberry fruit, gravel, rosemary, and thyme, and its polished but lengthy finish. The elegance is deceptive here theres plenty of flesh and weight, enough to guarantee a good 15 more years of satisfying drinking.
