What to Expect

Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

Known for luscious Cabernet Sauvignons, this wine is a classic example of Geyser Peak Winery's intense, lively style. Forward fruit characters of black cherry and blackberry dominate the aromas, with underlying grace notes of dark chocolate and spice.
In typical Geyser Peak style, the bright fruit is nicely supported by a restrained oak character. The palate is rich, round and lush, seamlessly pairing the cherry and berry fruit with a hint of spice and vanilla. The fine-grained tannins meld into a persistent, lingering finish.

Editorial Reviews

The nose shows a nice blend of integrated oak, cherry fruit and a touch of moist earth. With air grace notes of vanilla, coconut oil, herbs and a touch of leather emerge. Nicely balanced with refreshing acidity keeping this medium bodied wine lively and fresh. The flavors are classic Alexander valley with lightly candied red cherry and currant fruit enhanced with gentle herb and olive tones. The tannins are velvety and just offer nice support to the fruit. This finishes with gentle suggestions of woodsmoke and some slightly drying tannins that support a soft coffee tone on the moderately long read more...

1. 2005 Geyser Peak Cabernet Sauvignon - Alexander Valley - Color: ruby, Nose: (“Cedar Mulch” -Hector, and I agree), a little hot, a little raspberry, Taste: medium bodied, a little on the lighter side, light tannins, (“I would have imagined a Virginia wine based on White Hall. Tastes like Cedar Mulch, chewing on wood chips.” - Hector), like sticking your nose in a mulch pile, decent finish
Lamarr: B+ (quite pleasant, better than I expected, you can get better Cabs for the same price, but good for a blind purchase)
Hector: very high B (“Smells like a woodworker’s dumpster” read more...

Great easy drinking wine. Good price point as well.

Cool minty eucalyptus nose leads to a wine of medium body with lots of acidity, giving it good structure. Finishes on cocoa and a spearmint character.

fruit forward but decent balance. spice is understated but enough to tease the palate. good value if under $20, better if $15. drink with food...now.

Definitely fruit forward; with a fairly long finish. Easy going down; didn't have a lot of tannins. A very nice wine.
