Gevrey Chambertin Lavaux St. Jacques Louis Jadot 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux-Saint-Jacques boasts incredible depth, richness and sheer texture. It is impeccably layered from start to finish, with generous red fruit, licorice and spices, all of which take shape beautifully in the glass. The aromas and flavors build gracefully to the huge, multi-dimensional finish...91-93" WA 2/12 "Medium red. Reduced, slightly animal nose. Bright but tight, with a medicinal cast to the dark fruit and mocha flavors. Finishes a bit inky, with substantial tannins and a hint of dryness...89-92" IWC 1/12 "Outstanding: Reduction renders the nose difficult to properly assess but there is good verve and intensity to the well-delineated and strongly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that display a bit of wood toast. Like the Gevrey villages there is a lovely sense of underlying tension on the overtly austere, dry and clean finish that evidences outstanding depth and length. This is still very tight and compact but the material and balance are present to allow this to really blossom over the next 12 to 15 years...91-93" BH 04/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines.
