The village of Pinet is situated near Thau where the noble grape known as Piquepoule was first thought to be grown and which in turn gave the name to the wine known today as Picpoul de Pinet – a wine produced from the limestone soils of the Mediterranean and the celebrated southern French sun. Gérard Bertrand was named in 2012 as the "European Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast and "Red Wine Maker of the Year" by the IWC.
