Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuisse 2012
Duboeuf has long been regarded as one of the top producers within St. Veran. White wines from this French region tend to be a pale golden color when young, taking on a rich amber hue over time and often improving with a little bit of age. With their complex, ample and elegant bouquets, these Chardonnays from the Maconnais tend to offer round, powerful flavors on the palate. Often, notes of white peach, apple or pear can be detected.
A youngish, almost Chablis-like wine, this Macon is slightly more nervy, less viscous and sultry than the norm - an artifact of the vintage, perhaps. The honey, green apple and muted licorice nose with anise finish are more than acceptable. Decent value. 87 points.
