The appearance, as with many younger Beaujolais wines, is fresh and bright. Cherries and fresh raspberries are immediately apparent in the nose, but some vigorous swirling will reveal dried apricots and smokiness. Racy and streamlined, the acidity gives this wine its backbone with the delicate tannins rounding out the mouthfeel. This is a light-bodied wine that is both incredibly food-friendly and delicious on its own. Read more about this wine and others at: http://bit.ly/gznJmK

This firm red offers ripe, juicy black currant and kirsch fruit flavors, with dark chocolate shavings and just a hint of herbes de Provence. Therersquo;s bright acidity here and lightly chewy tannins throughout, with a smoke-tinged finish. Drink now through 2013.

Bold and juicy when first poured, the red cherry and tart cranberry flavors of this wine develop more refinement with air. It has a firm, smoky richness and clean depth of flavor; to pour with steak tartare.

Easily the best Beaujolais we've tasted in years, and the most enjoyable in recent memory; fruity and vibrant without being irritating, exhibiting a ripeness and silky texture reminiscent of Grenache or good vintages of Côtes de Beaune. It instantly won over a tasting panel heavy with Beaujolais skeptics.

The 2006 Morgon Domaine Jean Descombes offers aromas of red raspberry preserves, geraniums, and smoked meat. Firm in feel yet persistently juicy, it saturates the palate with a sweet-tart expression of red raspberries, finishing with a suggestion of wet stone and just a hint of heat. Enjoy it within the next 12-18 months.

This wine is an exceptional value. The outstanding medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Morgon Jean Descombes (described by Duboeuf as the greatest Descombes produced in the last 20 years) offers subdued soy sauce and black fruit aromatics. It explodes on the palate with loads of dark, sweet cherries, and has exquisite depth, breadth, and focus. This opulent, lush, fruit-packed wine is concentrated, well-structured, and has cellaring potential. Projected maturity: 2001-2006+.

Saturated cherry, chocolate and cassis notes weave throughout this medium-bodied, firmly structured Morgon that has density and a lingering finish, Drink now through 2001.

Offers blackberries and hints of cassis in its expressive aromas. Lush, medium-bodied, and displaying outstanding depth of fruit, this satin-textured cherry, black raspberry, and spice-flavored wine also reveals a long, supple finish. Projected maturity: Now-2007.

Winemaker's Notes:

This morgon displays a beautiful intense purple color highlighted with glints of ruby. its fruit character lies in the direction of apricot, peach, cherry and plum, with subtle hints of kirsch and anise. notice a broad-shouldered, ample structure.
