Georges Duboeuf Morgon 2009
The appearance, as with many younger Beaujolais wines, is fresh and bright. Cherries and fresh raspberries are immediately apparent in the nose, but some vigorous swirling will reveal dried apricots and smokiness. Racy and streamlined, the acidity gives this wine its backbone with the delicate tannins rounding out the mouthfeel. This is a light-bodied wine that is both incredibly food-friendly and delicious on its own. Read more about this wine and others at: http://bit.ly/gznJmK
My Rating 86: nice long nose. Taste dry typical Beaujeaulais Nothing special about this no complexity. Overpriced!!
My Rating 88: Very well balanced nose with complex attributes. Body is fruity well balanced with long taste. Very well made. Price about $ 10.- at Costco
Do NOT waste your money on this wine. Enough said. There is no way this is rated 93. I would give it 74 pts. avoid if possible.

External Reviews for Georges Duboeuf Morgon
This wine's raspberry and herb aromas are enriched by the smokiness of oak. there's a complex, woodland funk, melding violets and mushrooms into the silkiness of the tannin. It's well knit and suited to a few years of age, or to serving now with roast beef.
Offers a blast of maraschino cherry aroma, with solid ripeness on the palate. Hints of chocolate and earth on the finish. Drink now.
Pretty fresh for a 2006, with nearly ebullient maraschino cherry, plum and licorice notes. Briary finish. Drink now.
Number 21 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2011!! Georges Duboeuf himself stated that 2009 was the best vintage of his lifetime. This wine which is one of his most consistently fine year after year, in 2009 has truly excelled. Produced and bottled at the Domiane in Morgon, Georges DuBouef’s team imparts their expertise to insure that the quality is always there while the price remains unbelievably affordable. The Wine Spectator scored it 93 points saying "Light tannins and a smoky mineral note frame this lush red, which displays layers of black cherry, raspberry ganache and tea rose flavors. A spicy thread runs through the wine, leading to a fresh, firm finish. Drink now." Limited!
An intense Beaujolais light-years away from the thin quaffers you may have experienced. Signature features are its dark purple color, raspberry bouquet, and lively palate. Drink it and you will know why this single-estate Morgon is regularly singled out as one of the heartiest and best Beaujolais wines.
The most successful of Duboeuf's Morgons, a commune that had difficulty coping with the powerful sun, heat, and drought of the vintage, is the 2003 Morgon Jean Descombes. Produced from 20 hectoliters per hectare yields (the norm is closer to 60), it reveals violet-laced waxy black fruit aromas. Light to medium-bodied, it offers a structured character with elegant layers of floral blackberries, blueberries, and cassis. Pure, displaying lovely depth, this wine also possesses a long, angle-free finish. Drink it over the next 5 years.
