Six years out from "the vintage of the sun" this remains a tasty and distinctly un-Beaujolais Beaujolais. Oddly dry and complex, if you can find some, give it another try.

Dark, ripe and juicy, with a fleshy core of black cherry and plum fruit. Lots of sweet spice and smoke notes, too, with another blast of fruit on the finish. Drink now.

This Beaujolais-Villages is just a great wine to drink, with fresh berry and cherry fruit and hints of cranberries. Like so many fresh, fruity Beaujolais, it tastes even better when lightly chilled.

A medium ruby-colored, redcurrant-scented and flavored wine that is more tart than usual, but crisp, refreshing, and cleanly made; drink over the next year.

The bright ruby-colored 2001 Beaujolais (flower label) has a nose of sweet red cherries and roses. Light to medium-bodied, it reveals attractive berry flavors in an easygoing, refreshing style. Drink it over the next 1ndash;2 years.

A fresh Beaujolais on the brighter, raspberry side of gamayrsquo;s cherry-scented fruit, this is clean and simple, with enough structure to serve with steak.

The 2005 Beaujolais-Villages, which sports a nose of thick chocolate, wax, and black cherries, is suave, pure, and enticing. Redolent with dark cherries, it is structured, focused, and medium-bodied. Drink this beauty between 2007 and 2010, giving its considerable fruit time to expand.

Fresh and juicy, with spice and tobacco notes accenting the dark berry fruit flavors. Lightly chewy on the moderate finish, showing a chocolate note.
