What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

Reviews

'A light French red made from gamay grapes grown in southern Burgandy. Raspberry and plum scents lead through a light, succulent palate that finishes soft and refreshing. Served lightly chilled, it's great with cold cuts, pates and the like' (Ralph Kyte-Powell, Delicious, December 2008/January 2009).

Tasting Notes - Simply a great summer red. This wine is tender, wonderfully fruity with the aroma of fresh grapes and when served slightly chilled will complement most lighter foods.

Candied orange and fig bouquet, light acid, moderate tannins, and a gamey finish which I assume is characteristic of the grape in general? Went well with chicken fajitas, but definitely needs to accompany food rather than being sipped on its own.

Certainly not worth $12.

Bright color, close nose (strawberries),
round and easy to drink.

Light but very fruity with Strwaberry, more so than the average Beaujolais. For the price paid this is good value.
