This review is a little unfair for this wine. I saw this special cuvée along with the 2007 at my local grocery store for the phenomenal price of two for $9. Being a Beaujolais Nouveau from 2006 and trying it in 2009, this one is a little past its prime. Still noted hints of residual fruitiness and red berry. I think it would be quite a nice Nouveau if tried at the right time. Needless to say if you still have this sitting around you may have missed your window of opportunity. Still not bad for $4.50.
Mediium ruby in color, with moderate aromas of raspberries and spice. Dry with medium body and fresh acidity. Some soft tannins and silky strawberry and nutmeg flavors.

Has ripe, medium-weight black cherry flavors, a touch of chocolate and a round, lively finish. Ideal with salmon or roast chicken. Drink now through 2002.
Ruby color, a very fresh and fruity nose with hints of blueberry, blackberry and plum. A pleasant and joyous wine, which is fairly robust and can be drunk young, although it also will age well.
Mouthwatering Aromas of super ripe red apples, bing cherries and roses. Terrific density, depth and concentration of fruit.
A robust wine, built with a firm structure very similar to Burgundy's Pommard and features spicy plum and cherry fruit.
Brouilly is the largest of the Crus. It is named after an inactive volcano, the Mont. de Brouilly, that its extensive vineyards surround. The soil, quite typically, is a composition of several types of granite. The wine offers generous aromas of red fruits and plums with light mineral accents. It is a well-balanced wine that encourages the rich, fruity character of the Gamay grape.
A cinnamon spice nose greets you; the fruit is sweet up front, but finishes dry. There are no tannins to speak of, but the structure and balance is fine. Light-bodied and stylish.
Nice range, with black cherry and raspberry fruit augmented by briar, spice and mineral hints. Good bit of grip on the finish. Drink now through 2007.
