Very dark in the glass, nearly opaque. Nose of dusty, chalky cocoa powder and stewed fruit. Leaning heavily to black fruits, plums, etc. Some black olive and savory herbs. Minty flavor quality over dark red and black fruits. A bit stewy and lead by plum. Fruit skins more so than flesh on the palate. Also tasting cocoa powder and roasted herbs. Drink now. 86 pts. 2/24/13

Weingut: Gemtree VineyardsRegion: McLaren ValeRebsorte: Cabernet Sauvignon 52%, Petit Verdot 30%, Cabernet Franc 13%, Merlot 5%Inhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14 Vol.%Restsüße: trockenLagerfähigkeit: 7 - 10 Jahre ab Jahrgang Fassreife: in Barriques gereiftEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Rotwein > Australien > McLaren Vale

Winemaker's Notes:

Cabernet creates the platform and base, petit verdot gives aromatics structure and tannin, merlot the juiciness and cabernet franc is the funk… A Bordeaux blend with a difference!
