Gemtree Vineyards Obsidian 2005
The 2005 vintage is all about power the wines are BIG!! The icon wines from this vintage will need time in your cellar. Obsidian is one of these it commands your attention. We began separating out our ultra premium shiraz for a reserve wine 7 years ago and the 2005 Obsidian is an amazing example of what great vintages from great vineyards can achieve when given the latitude. This wine screams life it's a gangster!Tasting NotesColour Purple with black hue.Nose Liquorice, bitter chocolate, plums, amarone, currants, crushed almonds.Palate Amazing concentration. A thick wine with loads of character and extract. The front and back palate are melded together with a mass of fruit weight, acid and tannin. I am amazed at where this wine is for its age.Cellaring 25+ years.
