Gelso Moro Salento IGT 2004

Member Review by rvisconti:

I tried this wine last weekend at Cork in Dallas. It was a staff recommendation and I definitely love it. It's got a unique flavor that is a wonderful experience on the pallet. I would definitely recommend this wine to anyone who likes a distinct and unique medly of flavors.

a nicely complex wine with lavender/lillac on the nose that isn't overpowering but soft and beautiful.

Salento is in the "heel" of Italy, in the southeastern region of Apulia. This hearty red comes from estate-grown Negroamaro grapes. It is dark in color with lots of dark fruit - blueberries and black cherries - and a floral note on the finish. There's touch of an earthy, garrigue-like character on the finish as well.
