Gatonegro Chardonnay 2016

External Review:

Founded in 1865, Viña San Pedro figures among the largest and oldest Chilean wine exporters and is one of the country’s most important wineries, with presence in more than 80 markets on all five continents with its brands Cabo de Hornos, 1865 Single Vineyard, Castillo de Molina, 35°South, and GatoNegro. This wide brand portfolio allows it to target a great variety of consumers throughout the world. San Pedro’s main plantations, the winery and the centenary underground cellar are located in Molina, at the Curicó Valley, 200 Km south from Santiago. An area gifted with gentle rolling hills and frank soils on volcanic tuff, with privileged climatic and geographical conditions for grape-growing. Here, San Pedro owns one of the largest continuous areas of vineyards in South America, with 1,200 hectares. But besides this, San Pedro counts with more than 1,500 hectares planted all along the Central Valley and in other Chile’s main viticulture valleys, such as Elqui, Casablanca, San Antonio-Leyda, Maipo, Cachapoal, Maule and Bío-Bío, being always in search of new and better origins and flavors for its wines. Today, VSPT is the second largest Chilean wine exporter and stands at the first place of the fine wine’s segment in the domestic market. Read less

Fresh pear and a touch of oak grace the nose, followed by a crisp, generally well-balanced palate that's toting punchy white-fruit flavors and noticeable oak. A very nice Chilean Chardonnay with snap.

Now here's a wine that's not overpowered by the heavy oak influence many winemakers put on their Chardonnays. Light in body, but full in flavor, this wine wins you over immediately with its tropical fruit aromas, and finishes smooth and buttery without a trace of wood. Excellent value - delicious!

Round and forward, with apple and butter notes that linger on the easygoing finish.

Light ion the nose, simple and pleasant. This is an easygoing Chardonnay with creamy, nutty flavors of baked apple and toasted pear. The finish is just as light and easy to handle as the rest of the wine, and overall it registers as a comfortable mass-market Chard.

Green-tinged gold. Vanilla-accented melon and pear aromas are complemented by suave oak spice. Supple and lightly sweet, offering clean melon and passion fruit flavors and a soft, creamy finish. Very easy to drink.

Colour: pale yellow with a notable greenish touch. Aroma: intense and very opened, they are showed with facility and in them it can be find ripe fruits like peaches, mixed with some citric notes from Casablanca's fruit, also it has a touch of butter from the malolactic fermentation and toastings from the fermentation in barrels. Palate: great fruit intensity and much freshness, with fine shades to vanillaand butter as a result of the percentage that ferments in barrel, which gives elegance. Their flavors are very intense and creamy, allowing a great persistence in the palate
