Editorial Reviews for Gascon Malbec
This is deep and briary on the nose, with sweet notes of pipe tobacco, African violet, violet pastille, mulberry and cedar. Thick and rich, this is a mouth filling, chewy Malbec that retains good acids yet offers fruit that pops with sweet ripeness. There are some nice dusty tannins here and wood spice, but it's all kept low under the ripe fruit, which recalls black cherry with some jammy strawberry nuances. A bit spicier on the finish, which is dried out by the wood tannin, though there is a lingering sweet/sour red fruit note. 86pts

The purple-colored 2007 Malbec contains 5% Shiraz in the blend. The wine spent months in French and American oak. It exhibits an attractive nose of black cherry with a hint of blueberry. Smooth-textured, savory, and nicely balanced, it will drink well for another four years. It over-delivers for its humble price tag.
Always a good buy and always big and husky, Gascón is a saturated and dark wine but one with good balance and texture. The nose features cola, boysenberry and density, while the palate is sweet and floral, with big berry flavors. Quite good for a fat young Malbec.
Quite forward, with blackberry jam, sweet spice and black licorice notes. Has a juicy, slightly raisined finish, but stays honest enough. Drink now.
The 2008 Malbec spent 9 months in French and American oak. It is purple-colored with a perfumed nose of cedar, spice box, and black cherry. Forward, smooth-textured, and savory on the palate, this nicely-balanced wine will deliver pleasure over the next 3 years.
One of our more exciting recent finds, this incredibly lush, purple-hued red wine from Argentina is so ripe and round that it is nearly impossible not to gulp it down. A great wine for peppery steaks and chops, or rich Mediterranean fare.
Bright red-ruby. Blackberry, mocha, smoke meat and nuts on the nose. Supple, pliant and sweet, with good vinosity to the flavors of black fruits, smoke and mocha. The moderately persistent finish features smooth tannins and a bit of unabsorbed acidity. (A second bottle was a bit high-toned on the nose and distinctly drier in the mid-palate.)
Don Miguel Gascón Malbec is a full bodied wine with a deep violet color, showcasing flavors and aromas of blackberry, blueberry, plum, dark cherry, and a hint of mocha. The wine is elegant and rich in texture, with soft, round tannins and a long velvety finish. Gascón Malbec pairs well with grilled red meats, wild game, pasta dishes and chocolate molten dessert.
