The finish is long and soft. 97% Zinfandel, 3% Petite Sirah

A night full of Improv is just what this girl needs from time to time. This Meritage starts out just right with Junior Mints and Good-n-Plenty. There is a hint of earth in there as well - as if I dug those candies out of my garden. . . on the palate it changes a bit for me. There is a similar anise component but it's softened by hints of nutmeg and ripe blackberries. The tannins grip nicely, and the finish is nice and mellow. Tasty and delicious. And somehow not at all like Fergie.
Getting some dark fruit and a slight cinnamon aspect on the nose of this wine. The taste adds a little more spice to this meritage with the finish being a tad drying but pleasant.
I did Improv all through college, and knowing a little something about winging it and keeping your fingers crossed, I can see where this wine got its name! The nose is blueberries sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, and the cinnamon blueberry action follows into the taste. Where's this weird soy sauce component coming from? Like an unexpected character jumping into an improv scene, the soy sauce catches me off guard and I have to take a get my bearings. The finish is dry humor, with a little tasty spice like a saucy love interest introduced to the scene last-minute. Overall, the story-line is cohesive and entertaining. I'd watch Gary's Improv again!
