Tight on the nose with attractive aromas of French oak and subtle green apple and toasted nut notes. Soft and open on entry with early flavors of raw almonds and creamy accent the the sweet green apple and lightly green plummy flavors on the palate. This is very supple and fairly rich though with enough acid to keep things lively and focused in the mouth. A touch simple on the finish which shows a hint of tannin and some lovely creamy citrus flavors. 89pts

Smokey and dry on the nose with a rather transparent quality that allow the wood to come through quite distinctly but it’s very fine wood, not sweet and toasty barrel, paired with gentle floral, butter and spice accents. Relatively rich on entry, this packs superb acids and opens with very ripe yet very fresh apple and almost honeydew melony fruit backed up well integrated wood spice that carries the wine onto the long, zesty notably vibrant and peach toned and spicy finish. This is really gorgeous today with a fine combination of power, vibrancy and depth, my only knock is that it does show a touch of heat on the long finish. 93pts

Winemaker's Notes:

Enticing aromas of stonefruit, honeysuckle and lemongrass fill the glass, followed by a flavor profile ofexceptional intensity and vibrant acidity, balanced by a rich, creamy texture thatcomes from extended lees stirring during malolactic fermentation. This wineexpresses pure, unadulterated Russian River Chardonnay intermingled withdistinctive cool-climate notes such as lemon oil, citrus peel, honey, lime andexcellent acidity. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 90 points by San Francisco Chronicle: I love a Chardonnay with a mouthwatering, refreshing tang, and this one has it. A blend of grapes grown in four Russian River Valley vineyards -- including the famous Rochioli Allen Vineyard -- it has vibrant citrus and white peach flavors, hints of lemon oil and toasted hazelnut, and a brisk finish. Aging in mostly older French oak barrels lends the wine mouth-filling texture, yet without oaky aromas and flavors.
