- The second most widely grown white grape in British Columbia, Pinot Gris has shown itself a variety that adapts to a variety of terroirs, including the Gulf Islands. Garry Oaks is one of two wineries on Salt Spring Island, operating from a vineyard meticulously managed by Marcel Mercier and Elaine Kozak. A former economist, Kozak has proven herself an accomplished winemaker. As this complex wine shows, she lets the grapes and the terroir speak without winemaking manipulation. The natural acidity, given the cool climate of the Gulf Islands, is piquant, even edgy. Kozak lets it show through to read more...lift the vivid aromas and flavours here – lime and rhubarb.
