Gangloff Cote-Rotie la Barbarine 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

Not yet reviewed; 2015 vintage rated 92-94 points by Josh Raynolds (Vinous): ...A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, candied licorice, incense and dark chocolate, and a sexy floral nuance adds complexity. Broad, silky and appealingly sweet, offering intense black currant, boysenberry and candied violet flavors sharpened by a refreshing jolt of juicy acidity. Smoothly marries richness and vivacity and finishes extremely long, spicy and subtly tannic, leaving a sweet floral pastille note behind.

Vintage: 2004 02/12/2009

La Barbarine is sourced from four different parcels of young vines on granite soils: Le Mollard, Tupin, Le Combard, Côte Rozier. Gangloff doesn't use new oak during the approximately 18-month-long élevage, and he may blend in 5 to 10% Viognier. The wines shows a dark color, intense aromas and a long finish with elegance and finesse.
