Gamla is the winery credited with catapulting the Israeli wine industry, founded in 1982 by Peter Stern in partnership with Golan Heights winery. While much of the country is rather hot and inhospitable for wine growing, Golan Heights wines are produced in high elevations with the perfect microclimates for grape balance and structure. Pale straw appearance. Moderately light-bodied. Grass, melon, white pepper, celery. Nice on the palate. Slightly creamy texture. Well integrated with a pleasant, simple finish.
