Gamla:
Gamla is the winery credited with catapulting the Israeli wine industry, founded in 1982 by Peter Stern in partnership with Golan Heights winery. While much of the country is rather hot and inhospitable for wine growing, Golan Heights wines are produced in high elevations with the perfect microclimates for grape balance and structure. Gamla is also part of the brand of wines that produces Yarden and Golan Heights wines.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Gamla Cabernet Sauvignon layers ripe berry and bright cherry notes with hints of herbs and black pepper. These characters are nicely balanced with a backbone of rich oak. The wines full and firm body leads into a long, round finish. The wine will continue to improve over the next couple of years and will drink well for 6-8 years, or so.
