User Reviews for Gallo Family Vineyards Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Sonoma Reserve
Add your reviewThe best pinot noir I have tasted from California. Rivals the pinots from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia and far superior to the Oregon pinots that I have tried
Very fruit laden, powerful cherry and raspberry yet still maintains a certain complexity. Slightly sharp in the finish, this is not a bad Pinot Noir at all but not an amazing one either.

Most of the fruit for this cooler climate Pinot Noir comes from Sonoma County. The brilliant berry nose coupled with a touch of sweet oak on the finish is a nice match with lighter fare such as grilled fish and chicken.
A terrific wine at a giveaway price, this coastal bottling shows a rich, complex texture and is very dry. The flavors unfold one by one on the palate: cherries, cocoa, cola, plums, blackberries and spices are highlighted by a burst of crisp acids.

This is an astonishing value, especially from such a prestigious appellation. Has a silky texture and lush but dry flavors of cherries, raspberries, herbs, mushrooms, coffee and clove. Try with pork tenderloin with plum sauce. With more than 30,000 cases produced, this should be easy to find.
Fruity and supple, this young, jammy wine is easy to drink. It has rich, juicy flavors of newly crushed berries and a slight grassiness that freshens it. So rich it seems almost sweet, but it's dry, with soft tannins.
A complex wine with elegance and style. Pinot Noir predominantly from the renowned Russian River Valley produced this silky wine with flavors of black cherry enhanced by earthy characteristics.
Winemaker's Notes:
Our Sonoma County Pinot Noir is rich and balanced with red fruit flavors of cherry, blackberry and plum. Its layers unfold to reveal an earthy character and delightful herbal notes, complimented by soft vanilla and a smooth, silky finish. The grapes were destemmed and cold soaked prior to fermentation. During fermentation the enhanced contact between the skins and juice maximizes the red fruit flavors of this varietal. This wine completed malolactic fermentation.
