Add your reviewThis really is sharp. Pours a pale straw with a green tint and tastes of sweet melon, apple and a very slight hint of butter but an overwhelming sharpness on initial taste which disappears slowly. A very nice bottle and ready to drink now.
Winemaker's Notes:
Grapes for this wine were handpicked and sent whole cluster to a membrane press, bypassing the crusher to reduce the potential for bitter tannin extraction. A press cut was taken at 110 to 140 gallons/ton to increase elegance and to allow the classic Russian River Valley chardonnay varietal character to shine through. The juice was 100% barrel fermented for 3-4 weeks then barrel aged in new French oak for an average of 13 months. This wine completed malolactic fermentation and sur lie aging to impart a silky, elegant texture. The wine has the intense peach, pear, apple and melon of a great cool-climate Chardonnay, accentuated by the creaminess from the sur-lies aging along with the sweet vanilla and toastiness from the oak barrels.
