Galil Mountain Winery Viognier 2010

Member Review by zufrieden:

The beautiful hills of Galilee are a fitting backdrop to this very good Viognier - if somewhat precariously close to certain border regions. The wine has a lovely golden colour with a slightly aged note to the bouquet of preserved spiced white fruit. On the palate, the wine is slightly almond bitter with spice and honey on the medium finish (a warmer climate tendency in this variety). Very good value and blessed by the Rabbi to boot (Kosher). 87 points

The topographical structure, quality of the soil and climate, make the mountains of the Galilee an ideal location for growing vineyards with grapes of the highest quality. Golan Heights Winery had long been aware of the region's premium qualities and consequently began planting vineyards in the Kadesh Valley as early as 1995 jointly with Kibbutz Malkiya and Kibbutz Yiftach. In 1997, the first vineyard was planted in Kibbutz Yiron and at the same time the kibbutz decided to establish a winery amidst the natural landscape surrounding it. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
